Our Summer Fun!

Will is now 4 1/2 months old and growing like a weed (or more like a St. Bernard puppy, drool included). At his 4 month doctor visit he weighed 16lbs 6.5 oz and was 25.5 inches tall. This puts him in the 75th-95th percentile. He is even out growing some 6 month clothes! If he didn't have two uncles over 6 feet tall and 200 lbs I might be concerned. He has become a very happy baby, especially since we started him on ranitidine for reflux, and gives huge smiles. This is a big improvement from a month ago when I went back to work. Jim had to work REALLY hard to convince Will that the bottle was not such a bad thing. He can still give his dad a hard time but there is far less crying these days.

It is hard to believe that summer is already over. We were able to do many fun things and it was especially nice to have Jim and I both home to play with the kids.

Our first adventure was 5 days on Camano island with my parents, Devin, Bridget, Graham and Wilson. We rented a house with fabulous views and a short walk to the beach.

After Camano Island we made a trip to the Lord family "Cabin" in the Cascade Mountains. Great weather and relaxation.

Josephine is big into hugs and kisses these days. I don't think Cameron minds :)

With two kids on opposite nap schedules we also spent a lot of time playing around the house. Thanks, Nennie, for the sidewalk chalk!

And thank you, Karin, for the bubble machine!

Look at those beautiful blue eyes!

Here is a slightly better picture of the two kids together.

Bath time! Notice he barely fits on the sponge!

Will is finely getting a better view of the world with the help of the bumbo.

Being inbetween school and a job, Jim helped our friends Jeremy and Megan with their backyard project. This meant we were able to spend some fun afternoons at their house.

Josephine enjoying her first popsicle with Jeremy and his daughter, Beatrix.
Incase you are wondering about the outfit, he is from Kansas, haha ;)

Look at those sticky faces!

In August we joined the Howes on their second annual family gathering in the Pacific Northwest. Our visit was short, but always wonderful to see the Philadelphia crew and their growing family.

Will's Second Month

He can smile! Always a wonderful milestone for parents. Here he is giving his daddy a big toothless grin.
When Will was about 5 weeks old Jim had to attend Uncle Joe's bachelor party in Missoula so my wonderful college friend, Susan, came for the weekend to help. Josephine loved it and so did I!

And so did Will!

Here we are making an outing to the Locks. Will still sleeps through most things.

He is starting to get interested in the play mat.
Jim graduated from pharmacy school on June 11th. Yippee! My parents came out for the celebration. It was especially nice since my mom spent the entire time playing with Josephine in the lobby (with all the other grandmothers and toddlers) so I could actually watch the graduation. Once again Will slept through the whole thing (what a good baby!).

Josephine was not so sure about the funny outfit daddy was wearing. She actually refused to let him pick her up at one point and yelled for me. Slightly embarrassing for Jim.

Will had his 2 month check-up and weighed in at a whopping 12 pounds 10 ounces (75th percentile) and was 23.25 inches long (only 50th percentile, we think the nurse measured wrong). He already wears 3-6 month clothes! A man at the grocery store said he looks like he will be a linebacker. Those Coyne genes seem to be pretty dominant.
Here are some more cute pictures of Will and his chubby cheeks.

My attempt to get a picture of the two kids together. I will have to try again in another month.

Will's first month

Life is certainly different with two kids. As my cousin Franny put it "It adds a whole new level of craziness" and that is very true. Josephine is finally getting use to having Will around. She has become used to his crying but still doesn't like the fact that he takes up a lot of my time. She tends to wait for the exact moment that I am indisposed and then demands my attention, which then leads to a very impressive tantrum. The day Will came home seemed to trigger the tantrum mode in Josephine, which we had some how avoided until now. I am happy to say the frequency and intensity has started to subside.
Here is Will thinking, "Does my big sister every shut up!" Get use to it little brother.

Grandma Nennie visited when Will was about 4 weeks old. Here she is doing her grandma duty of occupying Josephine while also baking cookies for daddy. Thanks to Zsa Zsa and Nennie Jim managed to gain at least 5 lbs.

Jim was finishing his last pharmacy school rotation during Will's first month but he still managed to get a couple of naps with him on the couch.

Uncle Devin knows how to handle a boy!
We had a family picnic when Will was just a couple weeks old. Cousin Graham is teaching Josephine about "See food". That's what big cousins are for!
Every big sister deserves some kind of reward for having a little brother. Josephine received a tricycle and a pink bicycle helmet!
